All In!

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. – Romans 12:1 NKJV.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. – Matthew 6:33 NKJV.
And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. – Joshua 24:15 NKJV.
Jeffrey D. Cannon has been arrested by a deputy of the Clackamas County, Oregon Sheriff’s Office. Why was Jeffrey arrested? The deputy noticed Jeffrey’s Volkswagen rapidly approaching from behind and also when the vehicle passed going between 80 to 90 mph. The deputy also noticed the sticker on the back of the vehicle which stated: NOT DRUNK Avoiding Potholes. Not surprisingly the deputy pulled over the vehicle. What was surprising was that Jeffrey allowed his vehicle to roll backward until it struck the patrol car.
Things went downhill from there…. The deputy could smell alcohol on Jeffrey’s breath and noticed a can of beer in the vehicle’s cupholder. Jeffrey had a loaded Glock handgun with the serial number removed and since he was a convicted felon this was another felony. A search of the vehicle turned up multiple empty beer cans along with a baggie of cocaine. If that wasn’t enough to arrest him it was also found that he was driving with a suspended license. You could say that Jeffrey was all-in for doing all the wrong things! (KOIN 6 Portland OR and various other news venues)
In the Book of Joshua, we find Joshua in chapter 24 sharing his final words with the people of Israel. Joshua is challenging them to put away the false gods of other nations and commit themselves to fully following the One True God. Joshua is all-in for what is good and right and demands that the Israelites make a commitment to do the same. Joshua says … as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
Jeffrey Cannon was all-in for what is wrong and bad speeding toward a likely wreck of his vehicle and toward a spiritual crash. Thankfully, the deputy stopped him before he crashed into anyone that night.
Throughout the Bible we are being called to an all-in commitment to Him. Romans 12:1 and Matthew 6:33 are two of the verses calling for an all-in commitment. As for me and my house we are all-in with a commitment to serve the Lord. What about you?
